If you have no prior experience on the hills in winter, I recommend partaking in a 1 day Winter Skills Course, which teaches you how to use ice axes and crampons, what gear to carry and what clothing to wear as well as numerous safety hints and tips to help you on your way. This can be run as a stand alone day or incorporated into a winter mountain day.
The UK mountains take on another mantle in winter. Weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly, navigation is much more difficult and a range of hazards absent from the summer mountains present themselves to the unwary mountaineer. By holding the Winter Mountain Leader Award, I can guide you on any non-technical winter mountain terrain, keeping you safe while you enjoy the spectacular scenery. Browse the list below for ideas, or drop me a line if you have something particular in mind.
